Spectrolite Freeform, crystal for sale from Madagascar. This gorgeous 10.9cm tall freeform is a stunning, unique form of Labradorite. Spectrolite features a distinctive effect called labradorescence (also known as the Schiller Effect), which is the stone's famous property. When exposed to light, the gem shimmers and shines in a glorious array of colours. However, Spectrolite displays other unique properties that distinguish it from Labradorite. 

We discovered the Spectrolite from our 2017 Spring trip and we were in awe at the stunning colours which are displayed within it. Spectrolite is special because while it displays the unique iridescence found in Labradorite, it also features a more extensive spectrum of colour, and for this reason is also referred to as Rainbow Labradorite. It is a rare find in Madagascar as usually Labradorite will just display colours of blue, green and yellow, whilst the Spectrolite pieces we have to offer can also display the beautiful purple and mauve colour range. 

Spectrolite was initially a brand name for the material that was mined in Finland, and is usually cut as a cabochon but sometimes you see larger pieces cut into freeforms and pebbles like the ones sold by Madagascan Direct. Our Spectrolite is ideal for the crystal healer and an amazing addition to any collector who would like this colourful and truly unique stone.
