Large Fossil Wood Slice, fossil for sale from Madagascar. This lovely 19cm long piece is a section from a Fossil Wood log that has been polished on both faces to reveal the vividly coloured Jaspers which have replaced the original wood very slowly in the process of silicification. 

Displaying rich striped red, chocolate brown, beige, and caramel brown tones in distinctive patterns, this sophisticated piece is unique in both appearance and origin. 

The Fossil Wood is sourced from the Araucaria tree, which is more commonly known as the Monkey Puzzle Tree. Originating from the Triassic Period, this piece is 248 million years old and thus a spectacular historical item. The Monkey Puzzle Tree population is in decline today, so here is a chance to own a living fossil from Madagascar. Ideal for a collector or for interior decor. Comes complete with display stand.
