Pyrite

Recently here at www.madagascandirect.com we have imported alongside the Chrysocolla some high grade
 Peruvian Pyrite Spheres, Hearts and Eggs. The Pyrite is a beautiful top quality grade and fits in well with all of our other products from Madagascar. Pyrite can also be known as fools gold due to it's bright golden lustrous metallic finish. Pyrite can also be found in association with gold which must have been a nightmare for early gold miners. Pyrite has an amazing crystal habit being cubic and massive and octahedral to name but a few. Pyrite has a hardness of 6 to 6.5 on the mohs scale with a metallic shining lustre. In the early 16th and 17th centuries pyrite was used as a way to create a spark in fire arms and the spark would ignite the gunpowder. Pyrite has many commercial uses including uses in lithium batteries. Pyrite will often be found as a replacement mineral for fossils and you get some beautiful ammonites from the south coast of England which has lovely ammonites that have been completely replaced by pyrite. Pyrite is found in many countries but the pyrite we have for sale is from the the mining district of Huaron in Peru which is famous for beautiful pyrite crystals. We have shaped the pieces into beautiful display pieces and they have been polished to a very fine grade of diamond to produce a beautiful mirror like polish. Apart from the polished hearts, spheres and eggs we will be working on a flat pebble to accompany the beautiful hand polished pebbles that we currently stock from Madagascar. The pebble will be very tactile and have nice cavities displaying the glistening sparkling pyrite crystals. we are also working on some larger hearts, eggs and spheres with pieces up to 5kg. These pyrite products will be perfect for any sphere or egg collection and also for the healer. Equally they will make a unique display piece for anyone who enjoys mother natures raw beauty.
