This magnificent 19.5cm long piece is a section from a Fossil Wood log that has been polished on one face reveal the vividly coloured Jaspers which have replaced the original wood very slowly in the process of silicification. The rest of the piece displays the natural, rough branch end. 

Displaying rich stone grey, beige, and brown tones with hints of red in distinctive patterns, this sophisticated piece is unique in both appearance and origin. The Fossil Wood is sourced from the Araucaria tree, which is more commonly known as the Monkey Puzzle Tree. Originating from the Triassic Period, this piece is 248 million years old and thus a spectacular historical item.
