Ammonite Pair 9.7cm
Ammonite Pair fossil for sale from Madagascar.
Dating from the Cretaceous Period and at a majestic 120 million years old, this stunning Ammonite pair is an exciting piece of history.
This particular Ammonite pair, of the Cleoniceras species, is a magnificent 9.7cm wide. These wonderful brown fossils display intricate swirling patterns and deep caramel, chocolate-brown, cream, and stone grey tones upon their highly polished surfaces.
This fossil consists of an Ammonite cut and polished to create a striking pair. Both of the pieces display a rough natural surface on one side, and a highly polished surface on the other. The fossil pattern reveals gorgeous, colourful internal calcite chambers.
This fossil's colours were caused by calcite minerals replacing the original organic material present in the Ammonite creature during its decay.
