Fossil Wood Book Ends 9.6cm
Fossilised Wood Book Ends, fossila for sale from Madagascar. These stunning 9.6cm tall bookends are sections from a Fossil Wood log that have been polished on their tops and bases and one of their sides to reveal the vividly coloured Jaspers which have replaced the original wood very slowly in the process of silicification. The edges of the pieces are the natural unpolished wood.
Displaying rich black, red, stone grey, and caramel tones in distinctive patterns, these sophisticated fossil book ends are unique in both appearance and origin. The Fossil Wood is sourced from the Araucaria tree, which is more commonly known as the Monkey Puzzle Tree. Originating from the Triassic Period, these pieces are 248 million years old and thus a spectacular historical item. The Monkey Puzzle Tree population is in decline today, so here is a chance to own a living fossil from Madagascar. Ideal for a collector or for interior decor.
