Ammonite Cleoniceras 9.3cm
Cleoniceras Ammonite fossil from Madagascar. This fabulous Cleoniceras Ammonite is 9.3cm at its widest diameter and has been beautifully polished to reveal its rich golden brown calcites and impressive suture patterns. The ammonite has had its original shell ground off to reveal the calcite replacement which has occurred over 120 million years. Water dissolves the original hard parts of the ammonite shell and replaces it with mineral matter in a very slow process. This beautiful rich coloured fossil is of a very high grade and very tactile, perfect for a collector or just something beautiful to own. It comes from the north east coast of Madagascar in the jungles of Mahajanga. It is from the Cretaceous period and comes complete with display stand.
