Ammonite Lytoceras 8.8cm
Spectacular lytoceras Ammonite fossil in its natural state from Madagascar. This lovely 8.8cm diameter Ammonite has been carefully prepared and is in excellent condition considering it swam the seas 120 million years ago. This lytoceras Ammonite fossil is from the Cretaceous period and oroginated from the jungles of Mahajanga on the north east coast of Madagascar, an island of the east coast of Africa. Various different species of Ammonite are found in this difficult and remote location, and the seas were once full of these molluscs. Ammonites are an extinct group of marine molluscs in the sub-class of Ammonoidea of the class Cephlapod. This Ammonite comes complete with display stand.
