Botroydal Chalcedony Agate, crystal for sale from Madagascar, This gorgeous 10.7cm tall Botroydal Chalcedony Agate has an unusual spherical crystal formation and would make a very decorative display piece in any home. Chalcedony Agate is a form of silica composed of very fine inter-growths of quartz and moganite. As early as the bronze age chalcedony agate was in use in the mediterranean region to make seals as hot wax would not stick to it. It was also used by the romans to make cameo brooches. It is a very hard mineral and over the ages has been used to make a variety of tools from leather burnishing tools to pestles and mortars.
