Cleoniceras Ammonite fossil in its natural state from Madagascar. This beautiful 11.8cm wide Ammonite has been carefully prepared and is in excellent condition displaying amazing Iridescence. It swam the seas 120 million years ago. This particular Ammonite fossil is from the Cretaceous period and originated from the jungles of Mahajanga on the north east coast of Madagascar, an island of the east coast of Africa. Various different species of Ammonite are found in this difficult and remote location, and the seas were once full of these molluscs. Ammonites are an extinct group of marine molluscs in the sub-class of Ammonoidea of the class Cephlapod. This Ammonite comes complete with display stand.
