Ammonite Euaspidoceras 13.5cm
Striking Euaspidoceras Ammonite fossil beautifully polished to reveal its rich calcites and stunning suture patterns. The ammonite has had its original shell ground off to reveal the calcite replacement which has occurred over 163 million years. Water dissolves the original hard parts of the ammonite shell and replaces it with mineral matter in a very slow process. This beautiful rich coloured fossil is of a very high grade and very tactile, perfect for a collector or just something beautiful to own. It comes from Tulear in the south of Madagascar. It is from the Jurassic period and comes complete with display stand.
